
ENDOCRINE AND BREAST SURGERY FOUNDATION
WORLD CANCER DAY 2025

On February 4, 2025, the Division of Endocrine and Breast Surgery, Department of Surgery, PGIMER Chandigarh, in collaboration with The Society of Biological Engineers (SBE) of the Biotechnology Branch, UIET, Panjab University, organised an awareness program on breast and thyroid cancer. This initiative aimed to educate students, faculty, and the local community about the importance of early detection, prevention, and treatment of these prevalent cancers.
The program emphasised the significance of cancer awareness in reducing stigma, promoting early diagnosis, and improving overall health outcomes. The event featured informative sessions conducted by the Endocrine and Breast Surgery team, where medical experts shared crucial insights into breast and thyroid cancer.
Dr. Ishita Laroiya Associate Professor Department of Surgery PGIMER focused on the symptoms and early detection, educating attendees on recognising warning signs and the importance of routine screenings.


Dr. Siddhant Khare Associate Professor Department of Surgery PGIMER provided an in-depth discussion on the epidemiology of breast and thyroid cancer, shedding light on the rising incidence and risk factors.

At the end of each session, an interactive discussion allowed participants to ask questions, clear doubts, and gain further insights into cancer detection and management. This engagement helped enhance understanding and encouraged proactive health measures. The event received an overwhelmingly positive response from the participants, who expressed gratitude for the valuable knowledge shared. Many attendees reported a heightened awareness about early diagnosis and the role of a healthy lifestyle in cancer prevention. The initiative successfully reinforced the need for regular check-ups and timely medical consultations, contributing to a more informed and health-conscious community.
